There was a time when performance was measured in
decibels. Forty years of research and development has
brought engineering improvements to all aspects of
Camaro performance — not just in how it looks, but in
how it drives and sounds. Today, Concept Camaro is
just as outspoken as ever.
On the inside, the four-pack auxiliary gauge concept is
a dramatic tribute to the classic. The oil, battery, fuel
and temperature gauges are squared and placed on
the center console. The rest is a sign of the times. The
instrument panel is kept clean — as steadfast
performance focus — with a white-faced tachometer
and speedometer deeply set within smoked satin
metallic bezels. The correlation between past and
emerging technology comes to life by using analog
gauges for certain readouts and digital for others. For
instance, there's a digital indicator on the tachometer
to show what gear you're in and one in the center of
the speedometer that shows when the highbeam
headlamps are lit.
Black and platinum-toned seats are fitted with firm
side bolsters and Alcantara® inserts. They were
designed to be noticed — right down to the Hugger
Orange accent stitching in the Convertible.
And now, Camaro is returning to the streets. You'll be
able to get the four-passenger, rear-wheel-drive
performance Camaro Coupe in first quarter 2009 and the Camaro Convertible will follow within a year of the coupe.
